Anno Idle is a browser-based strategy/idle game inspired by the mechanics of Anno 1800.

Start with a small settlement of farmers and grow it into a functioning colony through population tiers, production chains, and resource management. Balance happiness, expand your infrastructure, set up automation and unlock increasingly complex systems as your colony evolves.

As you progress, you will:

  • Build and balance production chains to advance your colony
  • Manage population tiers and their needs
  • Maintain happiness to boost your income and production
  • Complete a structured questline (20+ main story quests)
  • build up your fleet and send out expeditions to discover new opportunities
  • Face dilemmas within your colony that shape your leadership style and influence how your colony evolves

The game evolves into an automated setup , so your colony continues to develop even when you’re not constantly interacting.

Expected demo playtime: ~2 hours

About this project

This is a one-person non commercial passion project.

I’m not a developer by background. The game was built largely using AI coding tools (Lovable, Claude, …) to bring the idea to life quickly.

Visual assets are taken from Anno 1800 (including assets from the wiki) to capture the anno feeling.

If you’re not a fan of AI-assisted development or reuse of existing assets, that’s completely fair — this is just a transparent heads-up.

This is a polished and balanced version of the game with the first 20 quests available. further development is ongoing and a full version will release in a few months time.

note: as this is a static deployment on itch, leaving behind your email address wont work. check this page for further updates instead or check /r/incremental_games/

This is fun already! I can really see this going somewhere, obviously it's still a prototype, but if you add more features this can turn into a full on strategy city builder. I like the clicker-like gameplay in the beginning, if I were you I would focus on developing some mechanics that force you to directly interact with the buildings to generate resources, most strategy and city builder games lack that, you usually just press a button and the thing starts producing forever. Good luck!

Hi! thank you for the thoughtful comment! Could you elaborate on what you mean with 'interact with buildings directly'? I was walking a fine line between too much clicking and full on automation :-). Appreciate the feedback!

What part of this game do you consider is Idle?

After about 30 minutes playing, you unlock automation allowing you to fully automate gold, worker and resource income - that seems pretty idle to me. Most idle games have a somewhat active early game that evolves into idle gameplay. This game follows that trend.

don't know why, got 60% happiness and a bunch of fish, but the farmers doesn't give gold when activated

If you could share or pm a screenshot that would be most helpful! Are you sure you didn't hit your gold limit (build depots to increase this limit)?

Hi all,

I hope you  enjoy this demo that has about 1,5 to 2 hours of gameplay. Much more content is already added but needs balancing and polishing. I would love feedback on any and all aspects of the game so feel free to leave your comments on this page
